Max cut his teeth in the record production world by setting up his own studio in his parents basement near Stuttgart where he recorded many local bands as well as his own music. In 1999 Max moved to London and started work at Bunk, Junk & Genius. From there he moved to Westside Studios in 2002, then on to Town House Studios for a couple of years before he left to go freelance at the beginning of 2006.
An expert in Pro Tools and a talented engineer, Max has worked extensively with Alan Moulder and Rich Costey and closely alongside producers Flood, Hugh Padgham, Dave Bascombe, Steve Power, Chris Sheldon and Jeremy Wheatley. Max is equally happy and dedicated whether working with emerging newcomers or with established artists such as Elton John, Beyoncé Knowles, The Damned, Motörhead - all of whom he has worked with in the past.
After engineering the Glasvegas (SonyBMG) album for Rich Costey last year, Max went on to achieve success in the producer role with buzz band White Lies. Having worked with them in their former incarnation as Fear Of Flying, the band got signed to Fiction Records (Polydor) and Max went on to produce their debut album which went straight in at No 1 in the UK album charts and has now sold nearly half a million units worldwide. After White Lies Max did some work with Razorlight before heading into the studio for 5 months to produce The Hoosiers second album, currently being mixed by Spike Stent.
Max is currently developing two very exciting unsigned bands before heading back into the studio with White Lies where he will co-produce the second album with the illustrious Alan Moulder.
